PAUREE 35 (Stanza 35)
In this Pauri, Guru Nanak Dev ji describes the second stage of spiritual development (Giaan khand or stage of Divine Knowledge). In this stage, a person realizes that God’s creation is beyond human comprehension; that ours is not the only planetary system, there are many more planetary systems in the Universe, many earths, many suns, many moons, and many sources of life; and God’s powers of creation, provision, and destruction are endless. The effect of this realization is so powerful that a person, who ascends to this spiritual stage, is filled with awe and amazement at the vastness of the God’s Creation and experiences a Divine joy that cannot be described.
DHARAM KHAND KA EHO DHARAM, GIAAN KHAND KA AAKHO KARAM
This (as described in the above Pauri) is the account of the moral duty of a person in Dharam Khand (the stage of righteousness). (Now) I am describing the working of the Giaan Khand (stage of Divine knowledge or enlightenment).

In this stage of spiritual ascent, a person realizes that in God’s creation) there are many forms of air, water, and fire. There are many Krishnas and many Shivas in the Universe (implies that God’s powers of provision and destruction are endless).

(In this stage of spiritual advancement, a person realizes that) there are many Indras (God’s powers to sustain life), there are many moons, many suns and many planetary systems.

KETE SIDH BUDH NAATH KETE, KETE DEVI VES

there are many pious people and wicked people, many saints under vow of self imposed silence and many oceans with precious jewels.

(In this stage, a person realizes that) there are many sources of life, many forms of speech, many kings and kings of kings.

KETIAA SURTI SEVAK KETE, NANAK ANT NA ANT II35II
there are many devotees concentrating in meditations. Nanak says that (in this stage of spiritual development, a person realizes that) there is no end to God’s Creation.

This is a good opportunity to memorize Gurbani, one Pauri at a time. You can concentrate better and enjoy more if you recite bani without looking at the gutka.
